Lord Mayor of Leeds Raises £54,646 for Andrea’s Gift!

I am delighted to tell you that the Lord Mayor of Leeds charity fundraisers collected a staggering £54,646 raised for brain tumour research and patients in Yorkshire through 2008 and 2009.

We are so grateful to Councillor Frank Robinson and his wife Sheila for choosing Andrea’s Gift as their charity of the year, to the great fundraisers in Leeds City Council who supported the charity, in particular Rob Kelly and the guys in ICT Services, John Draper and Christine Mabbett who all organised some fantastic fundraising events. Also, thanks to Stephen McHugh and the Office of Lord Mayor together with the Lord Mayor’s Charity Committee who work so hard to raise funds for the Lord Mayor’s charity. Their help and support was fantastic and without their dedication we would not have received the essential funds that were raised.

This is an amazing amount and helps the charity to progress plans to develop Yorkshire’s first brain tumour research lab, and I hope to bring you more exciting news on that very soon!

Thank you to the 60+ walkers who took part in the Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours event last Sunday – we were blessed with fine weather (for the most part!) and had a lovely day.

We still have a few tickets for the Wine Tasting at Cookridge Hall on Wednesday 21st October, £10.00 pp. Please let Carol  know if you can support this event.

We have now raised almost £870,000 – heading fast for the £1m by 2010!

Thank you to everyone who has made this possible.
